Sea fog is a fact of life here at any time of the year. It can hang around for days ( or weeks! ) at a time as the prevailing westerlies drive the fog inland. For the past few days though a stiff ( and rather cool ) easterly breeze has kept us mostly clear of the dense fog lurking offshore.
At sunrise and sunset however, fog has approached the coast more closely yet has still lain sufficiently offshore to give rise to some beautiful atmospheric effects. Lasting for just 10 or 15 minutes this leads to much frantic painting trying to get as much information down as possible before the light effect vanishes.
